Enchantment of Eternity’s Star Trek Episode Reviews

Welcome to Enchantment of Eternity. I’m Marc, and I’m on a mission to analyze every episode of the Star Trek Franchise. I started with The Original Series, and then moved on to The Next Generation, and now I’m covering Deep Space Nine and Voyager in order of airdate. It’s my mission statement to always give my honest opinion on each and every episode regardless of what the popular opinion is, so sometimes I have some hot takes. I prefer character based stories. I try to analyze the writing, acting, cinematography, and music of each episode, with emphasis on the writing. I explore themes and commentaries on the episode and give my opinion on whether or not it works, as well as explore some behind the scenes tidbits and trivia, and share my personal experience with the episode. We also hear from my patreon supporters and what they think of the episode. So check me out and give it a listen.

Join me as I cover the Season Premiere of Season 2, where the show was too preoccupied with introducing the new characters, and existing characters' promotions to actually focus on the story of Troi getting impregnated by an energy being against her will, and giving birth to it in humanoid form and we're meant to care about him but this story is given such little time, we don't.

Join me as I countdown all 25 episodes of Season 1 and rank in them in order from my least favorite to my favorite. Which episodes will be in my Top 10 best? Which ones will I consider the worst of the season? Season 1 had episodes like "Encounter at Farpoint", "Code of Honor", "Angel One", "Symbiosis", and "Skin of Evil" so where will I rank them?

Join me as I cover the Season 1 finale. The title of the episode is "The Neutral Zone" but the story line where Starfleet is re-introduced to the Romulans turns out to be the B plot, instead the story focus on 3 frozen people from the 20th century that Data defrosts. And while Picard and Riker are callous to them, to the point where they scolded Data for not leaving these 3 people to die. The episode does make a sharp criticism on 20th century capitalism and wall street greed, and is probably the episode in the franchise that explores Roddenberry's vision of a moneyless economy the first, and I actually love this episode for that, as it's part of Roddenberry's vision that I appreciated the most.

Join me as I cover the darkest and most violent and graphic episode of TNG. I'm surprised this aired on television as it shows Picard and Rike exploding a guy's head, and then shows an alien swimming around in a dude's innards. Although this episode is good for season 1, in the grand scheme of the entire show it's just okay. It's kind of the "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" trope, but the atmosphere of paranoia or not being able to trust anyone, does work for the episode.

Join me as I cover a boring romance episode where Picard deals with an old flame, and it throws in some time travel shenanigans as window dressing.

Join me as I cover the infamous episode where Tasha Yar is killed by an evil oil slick. While some people despise this episode, I actually quite like it, and thought Armus was an effective and creepy villain. And the memorial scenes dealing with Tasha's death were actually quite powerful and emotional.

Join me as I cover the "Don't do Drugs" PSA that's infamous for the scene where Yar tells Wesley drugs make you feel good. But actually it's a quite powerful thought experiment of a society taken advantage of another society, and causing them to suffer for their benefit. I think the intention was to make commentary on the illegal drug trade, but I think actually works better to explore the unethical actions of big pharmaceutical companies. Either way I find it a fascinating story on the Prime directive one of the best the show's done, and the best episode of Season 1.

Join me as I cover this fun adventure episode where an automated weapons dealer tries to sell weapons to Picard, and attempt to murder his crew to approve it's effectiveness. A lot of plot holes in this episode, but all in all one of the more excited episodes of Season with some great character moments for Crusher, Geordi and many others.

Join me, Alyssa and Darrin as we breakdown and discuss number 19 on my Top 25 Episodes of the Entire Star Trek Franchise List, which is the 4th Season Enterprise Episode "Kir'shara". This episode represent the Vulcan 3 parter in season 4 where they explain how the Vulcans go from being a bunch of controlling dick heads to the cool friends of humanity that they were in the Original Series. It uses some fantasy tropes, but in good way, and is a fun adventure, that also makes commentary on the war in Iraq.
