Enchantment of Eternity’s Star Trek Episode Reviews

Welcome to Enchantment of Eternity. I’m Marc, and I’m on a mission to analyze every episode of the Star Trek Franchise. I started with The Original Series, and then moved on to The Next Generation, and now I’m covering Deep Space Nine and Voyager in order of airdate. It’s my mission statement to always give my honest opinion on each and every episode regardless of what the popular opinion is, so sometimes I have some hot takes. I prefer character based stories. I try to analyze the writing, acting, cinematography, and music of each episode, with emphasis on the writing. I explore themes and commentaries on the episode and give my opinion on whether or not it works, as well as explore some behind the scenes tidbits and trivia, and share my personal experience with the episode. We also hear from my patreon supporters and what they think of the episode. So check me out and give it a listen.

Join me as I cover Episode 1 "Beyond the Furthest Star" and Episode 2 "Yesteryear" of Season 1 of Star Trek: The Animated Series. One episode which is very similar to the feel of Star Trek: The Motion Picture but more boring and mostly just technobabble and exposition. And the other, a classic time travel episode, where the time travel logic doesn't make any sense but it's a great chraracter story for Spock and helps expand the lore on Vulcan.

Join me as I cover what is in my opinion the 6th worst episode in the entire Star Trek Franchise, which is also very incidentally the last episode of TOS that aired. It is also what I would call the most sexist episode of Star Trek, as it's CLEAR that this episode was a negative reaction and criticism of the women's lib movement in the 60's as the message of this episode is VERY clear, that women have no business being in positions of authority and should just stick to the kitchen and answering phones. On top of that we get a cliche body swap story which Shatner hams it up like crazy.

Join me as a cover this excellent yet under appreciated classic sci-fi episode where they use time travel in a fascinating manner, as Kirk and crew come across a race whose planet is about to be destroyed, and they use time machines to evacuate their population to the past, and Kirk, Spock and McCoy get trapped in the past before they understand what's going on. And then we get one of the best one episode romances in the show as Spock falls for a woman whose trapped in an ice age.

Join me as I cover the episode I've also had a soft spot for, maybe it's nostalgia, I don't know. Because I do admit the romance in this episode is terrible, and the ending resolution of Kirk and Flint fighting over an android love was kind of dumb. But I do like the sense of foreboding the episode has, and I love the revelation of Flint being immortal I remember being really blown away by it, so I still really like this episode.

Join me as I cover #10 on my top 10 worst episodes of Star Trek list. This episode is not only goofy for having a bunch of hippies running around the ship having jam sessions with the crew, but it's also boring, and the commentary the episode makes is horrendous. As it paints the hippy movements as a bunch of idiot kids who need to shut up, get a hair cut and tow the line. Plus their leader is a negative commentary on Timothy Leary as it tries to paint him of someone who was once smart but is now insane. Also why can anyone take over the ship so easily just by going to auxiliary control, I mean the door isn't even locked. Why do they have a "commandeer the ship here room" it just makes no sense.

Join me as I cover this classic episode on class inequity, as a rich stuck up priviliged sky people take advantage of working class miners and the miners form a resistance to fight back and when they still a shipment intended for the Enterprise so they can save a dying Federation world Kirk gets caught in the middle of it. I love this episode as it's has great commentary on class inequility and Spock is the one who has a girl crushing on him instead of Kirk for a change. Plus I just find it an engaging story with engaging characters, so quite the underrated episode.
