Enchantment of Eternity’s Star Trek Episode Reviews
Welcome to Enchantment of Eternity. I’m Marc, and I’m on a mission to analyze every episode of the Star Trek Franchise. I started with The Original Series, and then moved on to The Next Generation, and now I’m covering Deep Space Nine and Voyager in order of airdate. It’s my mission statement to always give my honest opinion on each and every episode regardless of what the popular opinion is, so sometimes I have some hot takes. I prefer character based stories. I try to analyze the writing, acting, cinematography, and music of each episode, with emphasis on the writing. I explore themes and commentaries on the episode and give my opinion on whether or not it works, as well as explore some behind the scenes tidbits and trivia, and share my personal experience with the episode. Star Trek: Voyager Season 2 Episode 19 "Lifesigns" explained. Join me as I review and recap the episode where the Doctor falls in lurv. But it's actually a great character story for him as he grows more into his own person and not just a program, in fact this may be the best episode that deals with that topic. It also has a great character story for the guest character and an interesting use of the Vidiians, and it deals with topics of beauty and how it can determine self worth through society norms. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Season 4 Episode 16 "Accession" explained. Join me as I review and recap the episode that officials retcons the Wormhole Aliens who were strange aliens mistaken for gods into The Prophets who ARE gods. And it also officially retcons the role of the Emissary to be this prominent religous figure with power to equal the leader of the government. Star Trek: Voyager Season 2 Episode 18 "Death Wish" explained. Join me as I review and recap the episode where Q first appears on Voyager. We get a somewhat interesting trial episode that deals with some heavy topics as another Q seeks to end his own life and the continuity imprisons him in order to stop them. But he argues that immortality isn't all what it's cracked up to be, and we get a deeper look at the continuity, which I believe is a little bit of a retcon. I do like this episode but not as much as everyone else seems to, therefore I think it's a little overrated. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Season 4 Episode 15 "Bar Association" explained. Join me as I review and recap the episode with pretty powerful commentary on workers' rights. In the great tradition of Star Trek, it makes poignant and relevant commentary on modern day society through the lens of sci fi. HOWEVER there's a lot of plot contrivances in order to make the plot happen that don't make any sense. Most prominent is the fact that because Quark runs his bar on a Bajoran space station administered by Starfleet, he never should have been allowed to abuse his employees in the first place, and even if he did he should have ben shut down instantly. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Season 4 Episode 14 "Sons of Mogh" explained. Join me as I review and recap the episode where Worf's brother Kurn comes on the station wanting Worf to kill him in some Klingon ritual to end his dishonor. This is a continuation of the Rehash repeat story line of Worf being exiled from the Klingon Empire AGAIN. And of the misguided mistake of having the Klingons be the bad guys, so already this episode has me at a disadvantage and it doesn't really do anything to relieve that, especially the ending that proves not only is Worf a bad father, he's a bad brother too. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Season 4 Episode 13 "Return to Grace" explained. Join me as I review and recap the episode where Dukat is the hero fighting against the EVIL Klingons, which is back assward if you ask me. Sure the play up the fact that Dukat is egotistical and only doing it for his own lust for power (although the ending undoes this by having him give up that power for the greater good) and he's being a dick and hitting on Kira like crazy, but I'm sorry that's not enough to justify a story where I'm rooting for Dukat and I never should be.
